I discovered Chiba about two years ago, thanks to my cousin. This place has a lot of dining room seats and a good number of sushi bar seats as well. The servers here are incredibly nice and attentive, and there are plenty of sushi chefs behind the counter. When you place an order, the food comes out really fast! Chiba hands down has the best sushi in the valley! The quality of the fish is always so fresh and tasty. We usually get a bunch of hand rolls, and my favorite cut roll is the Shrimp Tempura Roll. It's so good! Make sure to ask for Spicy Mayo with Chili Oil - it's the best combination with your sushi! There's plenty of parking, and I think they offer valet service on busy weekends. The area might not be the best, but the sushi at Chiba is unbeatable. I definitely recommend this spot and will keep coming back for more.

I have been going here since they were in a tiny place in a strip mall in the 90s. Shig is the best! All the sushi and the comforting Japanese food is some of the best I've ever had in California. I haven't lived in LA for 20 years, but every time I'm back in town, I have to visit Chiba. So glad they're in a bigger location now, makes it easier to visit. ‍Run, don't walk, to get some terrific Japanese cuisine/sushi!

Thank goodness we made reservations! It was really crowded, especially the parking lot! The valet(tho) he didn't park my car) was super nice and guided me in parking my car. The food was really good too! They had some menu items that are not in your typical Japanese restaurant. Too bad it's so far from us.

Had a great dinner here with some friends. We got a mix of different rolls but I also got the Salmon Teriyaki as I like to have a full dish to go along with the rolls. We also tried the eggplant which was surprisingly sweet and melted in your mouth, a super unique dish! The restaurant itself had a Japanese style appearance and had plenty of large tables, suitable for big parties or large family dinners. The rolls all tasted very fresh. I also loved that they had a homemade spicy mayo that you can mix yourself at the table. It's mayo topped with a spicy oil and wow, this really accentuated the flavor of the sushi. The salmon teriyaki was perfectly cooked. It was really crisp on the outside with a sweet, salty charred teriyaki sauce on the outside. And yet the salmon inside was delectably moist. Even the miso soup was delish. Service was good, our food came out fresh and on time and the server was very friendly. Can't believe I am just discovering this place but I'm excited to come back!

I hadn't been to Chiba in years since I no longer work nearby. But while in the neighborhood with some friends, we remembered how much we used to enjoy eating lunch there. It's still very good, especially if you enjoy the old school kind of Japanese restaurant that has good lunch combos like the one pictured below. Portions might be smaller now, but it's still a great place for a not too expensive Japanese lunch (especially if you don't order a bunch of sushi and opt for a combo instead). But their sushi is solid too.

I have been coming to Chiba since they were at their old location, and they have stayed consistently amazing! Parking is much easier at this new location, the valet guy is so sweet; staff is all very nice and efficient. I'd describe the ambiance as a typical/classic sushi restaurant. I always suggest the albacore sushi, crunchy shrimp roll, baked crab roll, and the spicy tune crispy rice. This place is always "good tonight," I love coming here to celebrate special occasions with close friends and family.

Chiba: the most underrated sushi in Sun Valley, this legend since 1973 offers a delightful journey through traditional Japanese fare. As you step into this unassuming dining room, you'll find unique menu options and off the menu items like the Car Wash (which I recommend). What We Loved: Quality Sushi: Chiba lives up to its reputation. The sushi here is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you're a seasoned sushi aficionado or a newbie, you'll appreciate the variety of fish on offer. Unique Selection: Beyond the usual suspects, Chiba surprises with less common options like soba, donburi, black cod and grilled octopus. Reasonable Prices: The sushi is fairly priced for the quality you receive. You won't break the bank while indulging in your favorite rolls. Friendly Chefs: The skilled chefs behind the sushi bar add a personal touch to your dining experience. Must-Try: Fatty tuna (toro sashimi/sushi) #7 Shrimp. Scallop and Crab Roll #1 original Tuna, yellow tail, crab and avocado Negitoro hand roll Shrimp and Crab hand roll with soy paper Agedashi tofu

I've been hearing about Chiba from my brother for years, and now I understand why it's his go-to spot for sushi. Freshness is paramount when it comes to sushi, and Chiba delivers on every level. The sushi rolls were bursting with flavor, and each piece of nigiri was perfect. It's clear that the chefs at Chiba take immense pride in their craft, and it truly shines through in every dish. Their attention to detail and the commitment to providing a wonderful sushi dining experience. In my humble opinion, Chiba easily ranks among the top 5 sushi spots in the entire Los Angeles area. If you're looking for fresh, delicious sushi served with a side of exceptional service, look no further than Chiba. Trust me wheh I say you won't be disappointed.

Chiba has been my go to sushi spot for the last 15+ years. I love it here. The food is always above par. I will always keep coming back. Sushi selection is simple, while also boasting other japanese cuisine as well. I've gotten the dinner combinations before which are the best option for getting a little bit of everything for a good price point. My must gets at Chiba. Spicy Tuna Handroll. Nobody does it like Chiba. Creamy, spicy and loaded. They add in masago which brings everything together. Excellent. Negitoro cut roll. Always amazing. Perfect amount of green onion with the minced toro. Pro tip get it with Takuan which is a root and adds a bit of a crunch. Albacore sushi is legendary. Perfect amount of garlic, ginger and sauce. Scrumptious everytime. Crunchy Shrimp handroll on soy paper. While this is more of a not traditional handroll this is just fatboy tasty. Its creamy, crunchy and loaded with texture and taste. Items I normally get Spicy Tune Okoge. Which is spicy tuna on crispy rice. Bomb. Yellowtail belly. Favorite sushi of all time. Excellent here. Shishito pepper appetizers. Spicy and light. I love it when they grill them well done. Bluefin tuna sushi. I get it with yuzu pepper paste. Bomb. Baked scallop hand roll. Creamy and velvetty. Made with the large scallops and not the bay scallops. Little bit of mayo which makes the scallop come out more. Amberjack sushi. Light and flavorful. Lobster handroll baked, spicy add crunchy on soy paper. If im feeling it ill get this. Cause this is heavenly. Its pretty pricey but worth it. Keep it up Shig and Tomo. Ill see you soon.
